Please Note:
- If additional confined spaces are identified, please inform EH&S so the spaces can be evaluated and added to this main list.
- Spaces classified as permit required confined spaces are classified as such due to the inherent hazards that exist inside the space. Permit-required confined spaces may be declassified to non-permit required confined spaces if hazards are corrected or eliminated in the space.
- Spaces classified as non-permit required may need to be reclassified to permit required based on work practices to be performed inside the space.
- A Confined Space Pre-Entry Checklist must be completed prior to entering non-permit required confined spaces.
- Communication is required during work in all confined spaces on campus.
- At least two employees are required at the site during work in manholes and crawl spaces.
- When working in crawl spaces employees will wear a gas detector as a precautionary measure to facilitate self rescue if needed.
- The surrounding area must be secured during all confined space work.
