Using the "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" List
Use the Allowed Senders or Blocked Senders option to create customized lists that either allow or block a single email address or an entire domain. These lists are commonly known as white (allowed) or black (blocked) lists. The Allowed Senders list always overrides the Blocked Senders list. Messages from Blocked Senders are identified as Junk Mail.
To Create an "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" List :
- From the Webmail "Options" menu, click "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders".
- Result: The "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" page view displays.
- In the "E-mail Address or Domain" text box, enter senders you want on your "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" List and click "Add".
- Result: The names are added to the "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" list. "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" status is updated to reflect the new entries. Mail sent from senders on your "Blocked Senders" list is tagged by the Junk Mail filter (if enabled) or forwarded to your Inbox with the added header, "X-Junkmail-Blacklist: YES (by user at <hostname>)". Additionally, your system administrator may configure a message to be automatically added.
- To remove senders from your "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" list, highlight the sender's e-mail address or domain name and click "Remove".
- Result: That sender disappears from your List and is now treated as regular mail.
Examples of Valid "Allowed Senders" or "Blocked Senders" List Entries:
- allan@example.com: Specifically adds the user "allan" from "example.com" to your List.
- "@example.com": Adds any address at "example.com" to your List.
- "@*.example.com": Adds any address at any host within the "example.com" domain to your List.
